Director of Business Development
I am currently working with a Global Medical Communications agency who are looking to strengthen their team, currently looking to recruit a remote a Director of Business Development
This Agency is a privately owned global medical communications company in the world. Built on a reputation of scientific excellence and quality, they are a global leader in delivering world-class, innovative Publications and Medical Affairs services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
As a Director of Business Development, you will be responsible for acquiring new business opportunities as well as owning a growth target for newly acquired accounts.
*Identify, cultivate and maintain relationships with prospective clients while contributing to business strategies and organizational goals
*Contact potential customers and obtain contract commitments for the company's offerings
*Independently lead the entire sales process from client identification, prospecting, qualifying leads, presenting in client pitches to converting leads & negotiating contracts
*Develop strategies for acquiring new clients and growing business in a fast-paced environment
*Continue to oversee accounts and strategically grow accounts in their early growth phase until an Account Director is assigned to an account
*Maintain a deep working knowledge of the company's services and recognize opportunities to understand client challenges and recommend solutions to address the challenges
*Understand the needs of the client to debrief internal teams, identify the necessary pitch resources and lead the organization through the pitch process
*Keep a pulse on industry shifts and the competitive landscape by attending key industry conferences and events
*Develop and maintain contacts within the industry to provide information, remain abreast of competitors' activities
*Build relationship with procurement stakeholders in client organization to ensure maximum participation in RFIs/RFPs
*Lead RFP response development, RFP defense and conversion of opportunities
*Collaborate with scientific delivery team and Client Services team as needed to develop a perspective on positioning of various services
Desired Skills and Experience:
*You will be a highly motivated, results-driven individual with a background in Medical/Scientific Communications experience in an agency setting.
*You will have established industry relationships with a proven track record of success in developing, leading and winning new business within a medical affairs function (scientific publications, field medical communications, medical information, payer communication etc.).
*You will have a strong understanding of the pharmaceutical and biotech industries and be motivated by a fast-paced environment with the ability to adapt quickly to change.
*7 to 12 years 'outside Sales' or Account Management experience with at least five years Life Sciences (Pharmaceutical/Biotech) sales experience, ideally selling to Medical Affairs function within Pharmaceutical/Medical device companies
*At least 3+ years of experience in hunting for NEW logos and growing revenues multifold
*Demonstrated ability to build trust and maintain long lasting relationships with senior client buyers
*Must have closed deals worth more than $1.5million annually over the past two years
*Results driven individual with a strong business acumen
*Good understanding of Cactus Life Science's services for pharma and/or medical device organizations (Scientific Publications, Medical Communications, Medical Information, Medical Review, Training Solutions, Regulatory writing for devices etc.)
*Ability to lead RFP/RFIs collaborating with other internal stakeholders
*Excellent client interfacing and communication skills (verbal and written)- should be able to drive meetings and deliver presentations effectively
*Strong business management and analytical acumen
*Excellent negotiation skills
*Consultative selling skills and ability to engage with senior decision makers
*Persuasion (needs to demonstrate this skill)
*Established client relationships in medical affairs in North America and/or Europe
*Ability to adapt in a rapidly changing environment, work effectively under high pressure, growth mode
*Ability to build relationships with clients across all levels
