Our client, a global biopharmaceutical leader, is excited to be offering a new position to a highly-skilled Bioinformatics Lead to build their capabilities in Boston. This company transforms the lives of people living with severe diseases, particularly in the areas of the central nervous system and immunology, and have 8000 employees worldwide.
As a Bioinformatics Lead you will provide computational biology expertise to affect translational decision making at all stages of drug discovery and development, through the integrative analysis and biological interpretation of complex, omic data sets. The successful person will be the first lead in the US, defining computational biology for the Boston innovation site and making ground for the future growth. You will have the freedom to create a strategy here, with the added support of an international team of bioinformatics scientists and growing research teams in Boston!
In this role you will apply advanced analytical capabilities and biological domain understanding to reveal mechanistic insight into disease and drug action. Working as a subject matter expert to help guide the design of omic studies, in addition to:
Gaining insight into target mechanisms and disease aetiology through analysis and interpretation of omic data from patient samples, and in vitro and ex vivo model systems
Leading the development and creation of a local bioinformatic capability in Boston, including the establishment of supporting infrastructure to manage high-dimensional biological data sets and enable the development of scalable processing and analytical workflows
Acting as subject matter expert collaborating with multi-disciplinary project teams, to design and analyze experiments, and generate insight that materially influences decision making
Driving innovation by applying state of the art tools and technologies and developing novel statistical and AI methodologies
PhD or equivalent education in bioinformatics, computational biology, or data science.
3+ years of work experience in a life-science environment.
5+ years of demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and proactively apply project-tailored data analysis workflows to answer scientific questions.
5+ years of experience in pre-processing, integration and analysis of different omic data
types (e.g. gene expression, proteomic, genetic data, etc.).
5+ years of experience using methods pertinent for functional interpretation of omics data
5+ years of experience using advanced computational skills, such as experience of operating in a HPC Unix environment, cloud-based computational and/or pipelining platforms
Proficiency in a range of programming languages common to the bioinformatics community such as Python or R.
